Pop Up Drainage Emitter for Downspouts and Drains

The main cause of flooded basements and malfunctioning buried downspouts typically occurs when grass grows over the discharge area. In order to address this issue, we have developed the turf restrictor plate, which allows grass to grow on top of the 11.5 inch plate without obstructing the lid from opening and releasing water.

Included in the kit are FDM's Turf Restrictor Plate with Pop-Up Door, a 90 degree elbow, and FDM’s 4 inch riser. The massive 4 inch opening and hinged lid enable large debris such as pine cones and sticks to flow out easily. The lid's design also allows for manual removal of any remaining debris if necessary.

One of the key features of our turf restrictor plate is its ability to prevent grass from clogging the drain. Even if grass attempts to grow over the pop-up emitter, the 11.5 inch plate ensures that the discharge area remains clear. This design encourages vegetation to grow over the edge of the plate rather than the drain itself.

The low-maintenance nature of this product is another advantage. After heavy rainfall, the water will naturally flush out any debris. Homeowners can easily access the drain to clean out any leftover pinecones or sticks.

Constructed from shatter-proof material, our pop-up emitter is extremely durable. Made from 100% HDPE with no recycled materials or fillers, this product is designed to withstand the pressure of lawnmowers. The customizable pop-up lid can be replaced with any 4 inch drain grate, making it versatile for various applications such as inlets, vent pipes, or outlets.
